It’s a Beautiful, Silent Conversation Spoken Only Through Music
At a metro station in Berlin, a young man sat alone with a keyboard, two chairs, and two pairs of headphones. Who would stop and sit for a listen? Brazilian musician Pedro Carneiro Silva was filmed by Iranian-German filmmaker Ardalan Aram, and together they made a project called “Free Seat” that allowed for public music with no sound. Passers-by simply had to notice, then sit and listen to a personal piece played by this keyboardist. How did the listeners feel? From the looks on their faces, we can guess it was pretty spellbinding.
